AMECO has been serving the South Bay since its inception in 1974. Back then we were helping families in Rancho Palos Verdes heat their pools with solar pool heating and helping homes in Redondo Beach heat their hot water with domestic solar hot water systems.

Solar in the South Bay

south bay, palos verdes peninsulaWith the wide range of housing options in Manhattan Beach, Torrance and Rolling Hills Estates, solar systems vary greatly in size.  Our average installation is about 6 kW, but we have found that on a per square foot basis, families in Hermosa Beach and El Segundo use less electricity because of lower cooling costs.  However with larger homes, these families can see much larger bills.

Unique Microclimate

solar-installations-mapThe South Bay area in Los Angeles has a unique microclimate.  The coastal regions have a common marine layer and cooler temperatures than the surrounding area. Solar systems installed in your area need to be designed to account for the increased salinity and the temperature loss.  AMECO special orders our pool solar systems for the coastal cities to provide hot water longer in the year, and has been designing systems in corrosive environments for decades.

Sustainable South Bay

The Santa Monica Bay and Palos Verdes Peninsula are the most picturesque coastlines Los Angeles has. Unfortunately it is still plagued by smog from the nearby Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and the many oil refineries in the area.  By going solar, you show a commitment to the future, and help alleviate the pollution in your neighborhood. Solar provides peak power which supplements traditionally dirty sources of peak energy.
